The first international Women’s Day was observed in 1911. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements1 of women. In some regions, the day has lost its political flavour and has simply become an occasion for people to express their love for women in a way similar to a mixture of Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day.
